Shila Devi is the temple at the foot of the palace stairs inside Amer Fort, where Man Singh I installed an image of the goddess brought from Jessore in Bengal in 1604. It is the family temple of the Kachwaha rulers, with silver doors given by the later maharajas, and the sanctum is still served by priests of the family’s own line. Navratri is its great season.
