The sights of Jaipur fall into three groups: the walled-city set — City Palace, Jantar Mantar, Hawa Mahal, Govind Dev Ji — which make a morning together; the hill forts — Amer, Jaigarh, Nahargarh — on the ridge to the north, with Jal Mahal on the way; and the rest, from Albert Hall and Galtaji to Jhalana, Patrika Gate and Chokhi Dhani, spread around the city. The composite ticket covers most of the first two groups.
Amer Fort
The hill fort-palace of the Kachwaha kings above Maota Lake — Sheesh Mahal, Ganesh Pol and six centuries of the old capital.
Hawa Mahal
The five-storey screen of 953 windows on Sireh Deori Bazaar, built in 1799 so the court’s women could watch the street.
City Palace
The palace of the Jaipur royal family at the centre of the walled city — Mubarak Mahal, Chandra Mahal, the Peacock Gate and the museum.
Jantar Mantar
Jai Singh II’s observatory of 1734 — nineteen stone instruments, the world’s largest sundial, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Nahargarh Fort
The fort on the Aravalli ridge above the city, built in 1734, with the Madhavendra Bhawan and the sunset view over Jaipur.
Jaigarh Fort
The cannon fort above Amer, built in 1726 — Jaivana, the largest wheeled cannon ever made, the water tanks and the foundry.
Albert Hall Museum
The state museum of 1887 in Ram Niwas Garden — the Indo-Saracenic building, the Egyptian mummy and the Persian carpet.
Jal Mahal
The water palace in Man Sagar Lake on the Amer road, with four storeys under the water and one above it.
Galtaji
The temple complex in the hills east of the city — the kunds, the Galta Gate, the Sun Temple and the monkeys.
Birla Mandir
The white marble Lakshmi Narayan temple at the foot of Moti Dungri, built by the Birla family in 1988.
Govind Dev Ji Temple
The family temple of the Jaipur kings, in the Jai Niwas garden behind the City Palace, where Krishna is worshipped seven times a day.
Patrika Gate
The painted gate of Jawahar Circle on the airport road — the ninth gate of Jaipur, finished in 2016.
Jhalana Leopard Reserve
The leopard forest inside the city, east of Malviya Nagar — safaris morning and evening since 2017.
Jawahar Kala Kendra
The arts centre designed by Charles Correa on JLN Marg — theatres, galleries, the Thursday crafts market and the city’s cultural calendar.
Chokhi Dhani
The village-resort on Tonk Road that shows Rajasthan in an evening — folk music, puppets, camel rides and the thali.
