The Birla Mandir, properly the Lakshmi Narayan Temple, was built by the B. M. Birla Foundation and opened in 1988 at the foot of Moti Dungri hill on JLN Marg. It is entirely of white marble, carved with scenes from the epics and figures of saints and philosophers, and it is lit at night.
Moti Dungri, the small fort on the hill above it, is a private residence; the Ganesh temple at its foot is one of the most visited in the city, especially on Wednesdays.
