C-Scheme

The planned colony of the 1920s and 30s where the city’s offices, clubs and better hotels sit, between MI Road and Statue Circle.

C-Scheme was laid out under Maharaja Man Singh II as the first colony outside the walls, on the lines of a garden suburb: broad roads, bungalows on large plots, and the Central Park at its centre. Statue Circle, with the figure of Jai Singh II, is its landmark. It became the address of the state’s professionals, and it still is.

The colony holds most of what the modern city runs on: the Secretariat and Vidhan Sabha are at its edge, the big hospitals (SMS, Fortis Escorts) are within reach, and the banks, airlines and corporate offices line Bhagwan Das Road and Sardar Patel Marg. The Rambagh Palace hotel sits at its southern corner, and Raj Mandir, the cinema everyone photographs, is on Bhagwan Das Road.

It is also where Jaipur eats out and shops for brands. The restaurants and cafes are concentrated here and on the MI Road boundary, and the Gaurav Tower and World Trade Park malls are a short drive south. For a visitor it is the quiet, green base from which the walled city is twenty minutes away.
