Jhotwara is the north-western quarter where Jaipur makes things. The Jhotwara Industrial Area, set up by RIICO, holds the small engineering, printing, garment and food-processing units that supply the city, and the colonies around it — Kalwar Road, Jhotwara village, Niwaru — house the people who work there.
It is also the road out to Kalwar and the Jhotwara-Sikar highway, with the Vidhyadhar Nagar colony to its east. The markets here are for the residents, not the visitor: hardware, two-wheeler parts, building materials, cloth.
A visitor passes through Jhotwara on the way to Sikar and Shekhawati, or comes here for a factory. The Kalwar Road is lined with new housing, and the area is changing from industrial to residential at its edges.
