Raja Park

The Punjabi colony east of the walls, with the food street the city drives to in the evening.

Raja Park was settled after 1947 by families who came from Punjab and Sindh, east of the walled city beyond Ghat Gate, and it kept their character: a colony of traders with a market that sells cloth, hosiery and household goods, and a food street that is famous across the city.

The Raja Park market along the main road is the reason people come: the chaat and golgappa stalls, the Punjabi kitchens, the sweet shops and the ice-cream parlours, busiest from evening until late. The colony is also known for its cloth and ready-made garment shops, which draw buyers from across Jaipur.

It is ten minutes east of the walled city, with Adarsh Nagar and Tilak Nagar beside it, and the Jaipur zoo and Ram Niwas garden at its western edge.
