Bapu Bazaar runs along the inside of the southern wall from Sanganeri Gate to New Gate, and it is the first bazaar most visitors walk. It sells what Rajasthan is known for at the retail end: the leather mojari jutis, the camel-leather bags, bandhani and leheriya tie-dye, Sanganeri and Bagru prints by the metre, the cotton razai quilts, and the cheaper blue pottery and puppets.
The shops are small and many, the prices start high and come down, and the quality ranges from the real thing to the printed imitation. The juti shops are the best reason to come; the quilts and prints are better bought at Sanganer or from the emporia if you want to be sure of hand work.
Nehru Bazaar continues the line west from New Gate, with more of the same, and the Bapu Bazaar end at Sanganeri Gate opens onto the Tonk Road.

Worth knowing
- Start at a third of the asking price and settle at half; the shops expect it.
- Hand block print has slight irregularities; a perfect repeat is screen-printed.
- A good juti is fully leather inside; press the sole.
- The bazaar is busiest from eleven to eight; it closes on Sundays.
