The juti or mojari is the flat leather slipper of North India, and Jaipur makes it in the Muslim craft quarter of Ramganj, east of Badi Chaupar: a leather sole and upper, no left or right, embroidered with thread or set with beads and mirrors for the women’s styles, plain or stitched for the men’s. The shoes are broken in by wearing and shape to the foot.
Bapu Bazaar and Nehru Bazaar are where they are sold to visitors; the Ramganj shops sell the same shoes to the trade. Camel leather bags, belts and diaries are the related trade in the same bazaars.
