Chaura Rasta, the ‘broad road’, runs north from New Gate to the Tripolia side and is the book street of Jaipur. School and college textbooks, stationery, the city’s publishers and the second-hand book dealers are here, and the street fills with students at the start of each term.
It also has the Mahaveer Park and the old Jaipur College buildings, and the Maharaja’s School of Arts and Crafts of 1866 is near its northern end.
