MI Road Shopping

The glass-front street: emporia, sweet shops, shoe shops and bookshops along Mirza Ismail Road.

MI Road is where Jaipur shops when it wants a fixed price and a receipt. The handicraft emporia — the state’s Rajasthali and the large private showrooms — sell blue pottery, block print, miniatures, marble and jewellery without the bargaining of the bazaars. The sweet shops at the Johari Bazaar end and the Rawat kachori shop on Station Road are the food stops.

The road also has the city’s shoe shops, watch shops and bookshops, and the pavement sellers of puppets and painted elephants outside the emporia.
