Tripolia Bazaar

From Tripolia Gate to Chhoti Chaupar — brass, copper, ironmongery and the lac bangle lane of Maniharon ka Rasta.

Tripolia Bazaar runs west from the triple-arched Tripolia Gate, the ceremonial entrance to the City Palace, to Chhoti Chaupar. It was assigned the metal trades: brass and copper vessels, utensils, locks and ironmongery, and the shops still stack their wares to the ceiling.

The lane everyone looks for is Maniharon ka Rasta, which opens off the bazaar: the lac bangle lane, where the Manihar families heat and shape lac on charcoal braziers and set it with glass and stones while you wait. The Isarlat tower (Sargasuli) rises above the bazaar and can be climbed for the view.

Tripolia is less touristed than Johari or Bapu Bazaar and more of a working market; the carpet and textile shops near Chhoti Chaupar are the exception.
