Garh Ganesh stands on the hill between Nahargarh and the walled city, reached by a stair of some 365 steps from Brahmpuri. It was built by Jai Singh II before the city itself, and the Ganesha here is in his child form, Purushakriti, without the trunk shown; the temple looks straight down the axis of the City Palace, and it is said the Maharaja could see it from the palace. The climb is made at dawn, and the temple is thronged on Ganesh Chaturthi.
