Shastri Nagar & Chandpole side

The old colonies just outside Chandpole Gate — Shastri Nagar, Nahari ka Naka and the Jhotwara road.

Shastri Nagar lies north-west of the walled city, outside Chandpole Gate along the Jhotwara road, and it is one of the older colonies of the post-1947 city. It is dense, mixed and busy, with the Nahari ka Naka junction at its southern end and the Sikar road at its north.

The markets here serve the walled city as much as the colony: wholesale cloth, hardware and provisions spill out of Chandpole into the Shastri Nagar roads. The colony has the Shastri Nagar stadium and a number of schools.

A visitor passes through it between Bani Park and the Sikar road; it is a working locality rather than a destination.
