Surana Jewellers of Jaipur is one of the old houses of Johari Bazaar, the jewellery street of the walled city that Jai Singh II’s planners assigned to the trade in 1727. The firm makes and sells the Jaipur court styles — kundan setting, meenakari enamel on the reverse, polki with uncut diamonds — alongside diamond and gold jewellery, and is known across North India for bridal sets.
The house has its own workshops in the lanes behind the bazaar, where the goldsmiths, enamellers and setters work in the chain of hands that a kundan-meena piece needs.
