Where Jaipur Eats

The old restaurants, the thali houses, the sweet-house dining rooms and the palace tables — the names that have lasted.

Jaipur eats in three places. The sweet-house dining rooms — LMB in Johari Bazaar above all — serve the Rajasthani vegetarian meal all day; the old restaurants on MI Road, Niros among them, have served the city’s families since the 1940s; and the palace hotels — Rambagh, Jai Mahal, Samode Haveli — serve the Rajput table to visitors. Around these, the thali houses, the Raja Park street and the cafes of C-Scheme fill in.

The listing below names the long-established houses; it does not rank them, and the current state of any kitchen should be checked before going.
